Police promotions announced
Police Chief Michael Banks held police department promotions Wednesday. Betty Augman was promoted from lieutenant to captain while Mark Griffin Jr. was promoted from captain to assistant chief. From left are, Mayor Frank “Boo” Grizzaffi, Augman, Griffin and Banks.
Griffin, 45, has worked for the Morgan City Police Department for 24 years and has served as a corrections officer, road patrol officer, detective, narcotics detective, detectives’ supervisor and captain during his time with the department.
Augman, 43, has worked for the police department for 19 years. Augman has served as a corrections officer, road patrol officer, detectives, sergeant in charge of road patrol and as a lieutenant. In her position as captain, she will supervise the department’s lieutenants.
Griffin has worked in every stage of the department, he said.
“I want to work hand in hand with the chief to make sure that we’re doing the best that we can do for the community as well as for this department,” Griffin said.
“I just want everybody on board with us and let us keep moving forward,” Griffin said.
Augman said, “My role, basically, will be to help the community.”
Augman wants to get the community involved in policing, she said.
