Port Association will meet at Cypress Bayou

Port of West St. Mary commissioners are looking forward to the annual Ports Association annual meeting to be held at Cypress Bayou Casino Hotel in March.
Sponsored by the ports in Morgan City, West St. Mary, Abbeville and Krotz Springs, the event is expected to draw port and other officials from across the state.
In other business, Executive Director David Allain said the area where spoil was deposited from recent dredging operations has been drained of standing water. “We’ve got it in pretty good shape,” he said. “There’s a little water standing here and there, but for all practical purposes it should dry when we get some decent weather.”
Allain also said Twin Brothers Marine, an adjacent company to the port, will be expecting rail deliveries in the near future. He asked the commission to approve $8,800 for maintenance to the rail spur running through the port site and beyond.
Allain also said he will present a proposed ordinance for a no wake zone at the port to the St. Mary Parish Council for consideration and action in the future.
