Robison unopposed in city; MC mayor, 2 councilmen in
Jamie Robison, Franklin City Council Dist. A, was unopposed during qualifying last week.
Robison was appointed to fill the seat of former councilman Dale Rogers after Rogers won election to the St. Mary Parish Council.
Robison will now serve until the next general mayor and council election and may run for the seat again.
Morgan City Mayor Frank “Boo” Grizzaffi and two city councilmen will be returned to office after qualifying without opposition.
District 1 Councilman Tim Hymel and District 5 Councilman Louis Tamporello were unopposed as well. Hymel is in his second term, while Tamporello is in his third term.
In District 2, Dean Adams and Mark Stephens are running for the seat to be vacated by Barry Dufrene, who didn’t seek re-election. Dufrene is finishing his first term as a councilman.
In District 3, Joshua Loupe qualified to run against three-term Councilman Ron Bias, while, in District 4, Tommy Minton is running against one-term Councilman James Fontenot.
There were five candidates for mayor in the 2012 election, and Grizzaffi ended up defeating Lee Dragna that year in a run-off. Grizzaffi first ran for mayor in 2008 when he lost to Tim Matte, who served a total of four terms as mayor.
