School chief interviews to be Saturday

The St. Mary Parish School Board will interview five candidates for the vacant superintendent’s post in 45-minute blocks, beginning at 9 a.m. Saturday at the Central Office Complex in Centerville.
A special meeting agenda from the school board said that after a public comment period, the board will interview the applicants behind closed doors unless they exercise their legal option to require a public interview.
The five candidates scheduled for interviews Saturday:
— At 9 a.m., Ricky Armelin, the district’s human resources director, who has worked in St. Mary Parish for more than 27 years.
—At 9:45 a.m., James Gray, a 20-year veteran of the Vermilion Parish system, where he is currently director of leadership.
—At 10:30 a.m., Peter Boudreaux, the instructional supervisor of secondary education for St. Mary, where he has worked for 27 years.
—At 11:15 a.m., Leonard Armato, supervisor of special services for St. Mary, where he has worked 29 years.
—At noon, Aubrey Orgeron Jr., director of secondary education in Lafourche Parish, where he has worked more than 22 years.
In all, 10 people had applied to succeed Donald Aguillard, who resigned the St. Mary superintendent post to take the top public school job in Lafayette Parish. Aguillard, who began his teaching career in Lafayette, has been working at the new position since earlier this month.
The others who had applied for the St. Mary superintendent post were Molly Stadalis, Franklin Junior High principal; Donna Alleman, director of Louisiana Schools for the Deaf and Visually Impaired; Joey Comeaux, director of child welfare and attendance in Assumption Parish; Rhonda Stringham, assistant superintendent of Limestone County Schools in Alabama; and Clyde Washington, deputy assistant superintendent of administration for Rapides Parish.
