Shrimp & Petroleum Festival opens membership drive

The Louisiana Shrimp and Petroleum Festival’s annual membership drive is underway.
For 80 years, the festival has remained free to all in attendance because of the generous support of the community.
Without the backing from the public and local businesses, the festival would be unable to provide a variety of free entertainment for the weekend, organizers said.
The festival is working to distinguish the difference between membership and sponsorship.
Membership in the association supports the day-to-day operations of the festival and office, while a sponsorship supports the actual event.
Membership levels include:
— Friends of the festival, less than $150.
— Bronze, $150-$299.
— Silver $300-$499.
— Gold, $500-$999.
—Platinum, $1,000 and above.
Each member will receive the 2015 pin and an invitation to the membership social, which will be in conjunction with the 2015 poster unveiling Sunday.
Voting rights in the association are given to members beginning at the Bronze level.
Silver members will receive a 2015 poster, while Gold members will also receive a promotion pack.
Platinum members will receive two access passes to the hospitality area during the Festival Weekend in addition to the pin, poster and promotion pack.
Membership letters have already been sent out to businesses that have been members of the Louisiana Shrimp and Petroleum Festival Association in the past.
In Morgan City, Berwick, Patterson and Stephensville, various neighborhoods have received a membership mailer.
If you would like to bring your membership dues to the Membership Social on Sunday they will be accepted at the door.
The Membership Social will take place at the Louisiana Shrimp and Petroleum Festival Office from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. For more information call 985-385-0703.
