St. Mary Parish School Board to discuss Common Core

St. Mary Parish School Board members will be sworn into office Thursday at the start of the first regular meeting of 2015.
On the agenda for the 5 p.m. meeting is a resolution to weigh-in on the use of Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers — Common Core — for accountability in light of the state’s erratic release of information.
Advertisement for bids for the J.B. Maitland two-story building, window wall and air conditioning project is slated to be requested. The board budgeted $600,000 for the project to take place in the summer.
Also to be discussed is routine beginning of year business including setting the dates and times for the regular meetings of the year and appointment of auditors for the fiscal years ending June 30, 2015 through 2017.
The meeting will be held at the Central Office Complex in Centerville and is open to the public.
