Still time to join Christmas festivities

The deadline to sign up to be a part of the Christmas festivities in Franklin on Saturday has been extended to Thursday at 4 p.m.
Groups that are walking in the parade must complete a registration form, which can be obtained by contacting the Office of Community Development (337-828-6345 or ashields@franklin-la.com) or by going to the Tax Department in City Hall.
All golf carts must be registered in order to be in the parade. Applications are in the Office of Community Development and the Tax Department.
When the registration form is returned, participants can sign up for the golf cart decorating contest and receive their numbers, which must be placed on the front and back of the golf cart. Golf carts will be identified based on their numbers. First, second and third places will be awarded to the golf carts that best express the theme “Christmas in Louisiana.”
All vendors are required to complete a vendor application and have their own supplies to set up along the Bayou Teche, including tables, a sign with their name and a sign with the items and prices. All game hosts are required to complete a game host application and have their own supplies to set up along the Bayou Teche, including tables, a sign with their name and a sign with the cost to play the games.

The Christmas parade and lamp-lighting ceremony are Saturday with parade line-up beginning at 5 p.m. on Jackson Street. The parade will begin at 6 p.m. on the corner of Jackson and Main streets.
