Two companies are joining with Toys for Tots to provide a happy Christmas for local children.
On Nov. 22 the Marine Corps League, St. Mary Detachment 600 will pair with Walmart in Bayou Vista to host the first annual Stuff the Army Truck event.
Simply buy a toy between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. Nov. 22 at Walmart then hand it off to a Marine Corps League or Toys for Tots representative outside the store.
Every year the Toys for Tots campaign helps more than 1,300 St. Mary Parish children have a happy Christmas.
A news release from the Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Foundation states The Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Foundation feels that every child should receive a new gift for Christmas. Meanwhile, Chabill’s will team with Toys for Tots on behalf of customers who shop with them.
Every parish in Louisiana that houses a Chabill’s store will receive assistance in that parish’s Toys for Tots program. St. Mary Parish houses three Chabill’s stores.
For every tire purchased in the month of November, Chabill’s will donate $1 to Toys for Tots.
For any new, unwrapped toy donated in a Chabill’s store, that customer will receive 5 percent off the total ticket amount up to $20.
