Jeff Trimm’s announcement follows.
It is with great enthusiasm I, Jeff Trimm, announce my candidacy for St. Mary Parish School Board Member in District 9.
During the 28½ years of marriage to my supportive wife, Melissa Hebert Trimm, we have raised three wonderful children, Justin Trimm, Joshua Trimm and Meagan Cubbage, married to Stephen Cubbage. All three of our children are graduates of Morgan City High School. I am also “Poppa” to two beautiful grandchildren, Blakeleigh and Brantley. Blakeleigh is currently a student in the St. Mary Parish School System and Brantley will be when he is of age to attend.
My wife and I have dedicated our working lives to the St. Mary Parish School System. I am presently the parish’s maintenance foreman for District 2 and 3 with 30 years of experience, while Melissa recently retired from the St. Mary Parish School Board with 34 faithful years with the last 26 years as payroll finance administrator. I am a proud graduate of Morgan City High School and have attended Nicholls State University. I also coached Pop Warner Football, Dixie Youth Baseball and Biddy Basketball.
I would be remiss if I did not mentioned the biggest influence in my life, my father, Ronnie Trimm. He was a great teacher, guidance counselor and principal for 31 years in the school system. Upon his untimely death in 2002, he was serving a third term as a St. Mary Parish School Board member.
Student academic achievement is my highest priority. The system must exceed standards to insure our children are able to receive the skills and training needed to insure a successful future, whether it be college or a competitive job market.
I find no greater joy than seeing former local students returning to St. Mary Parish to pursue a teaching career. It is paramount we support our new and veteran educators by providing the tools needed to be the best. I vow to solicit valuable input from our principals and teachers before new programs are implemented. Additionally, much like the successful family unit, parental participation in the PTA and PTO programs will enhance our children’s educational experience. I feel we must explore options to strengthen the effectiveness of these organizations.
My family and I have over 100 combined years of experience with the St. Mary Parish School System. I am committed to preserve the integrity and interest of the system and our students. If you have any questions or comments, do not hesitate to contact me at 985-519-2615. Your support is greatly appreciated. Vote No. 119 on Tuesday, Nov. 4. Thank you and God Bless.
