Water safety course planned

The fifth annual Aqua Safety First Community Program will be held June 14 at Lake End Park in Morgan City, organizer Woodrow Parker said.
The 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. event will feature presentations by the U.S. Coast Guard, DivCon, Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries, Red Cross of New Orleans, St. Mary Parish 911 Communications, Morgan City Fire Department and other agencies, he said in a news release.
Parker said classes on boating safety regulations will be given. They include proper use of life jackets, flares, visual signals and fire-fighting equipment; boat registration, speed, no-wake zones, depth awareness and boat responsibility.
Food, drinks and entertainment will be available, and door prizes will be awarded, Parker said.
