Berwick High School orientation: July 27, seniors, 9-11 a.m.; juniors, noon to 2 p.m.; and July 28, sophomores, 9-11 a.m. and freshmen, noon. Student and class fees totaling $25 collected. Parking passes $10. See the school website for info.

5k run/walk
“Race for Recovery” sponsored by Claire House for Women and Children, a residential treatment facility for women and their minor children, set 8 a.m. Sept. 17 at Bayou Vista Community Center. Early registration includes T-shirt: $20, adults; $15, children. On-site registration: $25, adults; $15, children — no T-shirt guarantee. Prizes to winners and participants. Volunteers welcome.
