Woman arrested for setting fire to house, boyfriend’s clothing

A Bayou Vista woman was charged with simple arson after she set her boyfriend’s clothes on fire in her home.
Robyn Blanc, 29, of 1313 Middle St., Bayou Vista was charged with simple arson at 12:49 a.m. today. Sheriff’s Office Lt. Sennet Wiggins said she did not make any admissions as to the motive for the fire.
The fire was reported to 911 at 10:01 a.m.
Bayou Vista firefighter Josh Ashley said the call was dispatcheD as a girlfriend who lit her boyfriend’s clothes on fire. The origin of the fire was in the bedroom, and no accelerant is believed to have been used, he said.
There were no injuries, but a dog was killed in the blaze, he added. Ashley said Blanc wasn’t home when officers arrived.
The fire to the single residence caused significant damage, Ashley said.
In addition to the Bayou Vista Volunteer Fire Department, assistance was received from the Berwick Volunteer and Morgan City fire departments in battling the fire which broke through the roof of the home.
A joint investigation is continuing into the fire by the Bayou Vista Volunteer Fire Department, State Fire Marshal’s office and St. Mary Sheriff’s Department.
Blanc remains jailed this afternoon with no bail set.
