Work release inmate sought in St. Mary Parish

Viet Vu, the inmate who left his work release job Thrusday morning, is now in custody, according to a news release from St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert at noon today.

St. Mary Parish Sheriff's detectives developed information that Viet Vu was in New Orleans. Using that information, Viet Vu was located and taken into custody without incident by Louisiana State Police. The investigation is ongoing and additional arrests are pending.

A search for him started after he was missing from his assigned work release job at an industrial yard on Degraville Road in Amelia,  Hebert said.

Cletis Viet Vu, 31, of 2401 Lake Palourde Road in Amelia, was last seen at the yard at about 8:30 am., the news release stated.

Viet Vu is of medium build, has brown eyes, brown hair, is 5’9” tall, and weighs 146 lbs.

Louisiana State Police assisted in the search.
