After crash, Texan arrested on stolen gun charge

A 41-year-old Beaumont, Texas, man was arrested after crashing into an unoc-cupied vehicle on U.S. 90 in Siracusa, St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert said in a news release.
—Ronnie Bolton, 41, of the 4400 block of General Drive in Beaumont, was arrested at 8:55 p.m. Friday on the charge of illegal possession of stolen firearms.
A deputy was dispatched after 7:30 p.m. to a two vehicle crash on U.S. 90 west in Siracusa. The deputy determined that Bolton struck an unoccupied vehicle that was parked on the side of the roadway. Bolton was cited for careless operation of a motor vehicle. Also during the crash investigation, the deputy located a handgun in Bolton’s vehicle. The weapon was verified as stolen property from Texas. Bolton was transported to the parish jail for booking. He was released on bail set at $13,000.
Hebert reported respond-ing to 113 complaints in the parish and reported the following arrests:
—Christina Hornsby, 36, of the 300 block of Saturn Road in Bayou Vista, at 8:51 a.m. Friday on the charge of a warrant for issuing worthless checks.
A deputy investigating a complaint of harassment made contact with Hornsby and located the active war-rant for her arrest. Hornsby was released on a summons to appear in court on March 7.
—Max L. James Jr., 32, of the 1400 block of Front Street, Morgan City, at 1:15 p.m. Friday on charges of driving under suspension and violation of the general speed law.
A deputy working radar on U.S. 90 in the Siracusa area observed a vehicle speeding 87 mph in a 70 mph zone and conducted a traffic stop. The deputy made contact with the driver, identified as James, and discovered that he was operating the vehicle with a suspended driver’s license. James was released on a summons to appear in court on March 7.
—Bryce Beaubouef, 18, of the 800 block of Main Street in Patterson, at 3:11 p.m. Friday on a warrant for aggravated cruelty to animals.
A detective investigating a complaint of animal cruelty collected video showing that Beaubouef killed two rac-coons at the Atchafalaya Golf Course at Idlewild on Dec. 11. Additional evidence indicates that Beaubouef used a blunt object to strike the two animals, killing them. Beaubouef was located at his residence on the warrant and later released on a $5,000 personal surety bond.
—Lashondra Watkins, 24, of the 500 block of Brashear Drive in Morgan City, at 11:24 p.m. Saturday on the charges of a warrant for failure to appear on the charges of obstruction of justice, possession of Sched-ule I drugs, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Watkins was brought to the parish jail by a prison transport service on the warrant for booking. No bail is set.
—Tommy McNally, 45, of the 1300 block of Middle Road in Bayou Vista, at 4:56 p.m. Sunday on charges of domestic abuse battery (strangulation) and disturb-ing the peace (intoxication).
A deputy responded to a complaint of a disturbance in the 400 block of Field Road in Bayou Vista. During the course of the investigation, the deputy learned that McNally grabbed a female victim by the throat and pushed her to the ground. McNally was transported to the parish’s jail for booking. No bail is set.
—Chad Toups, 41, of the 100 block of Doris Street in Amelia, at 2:37 a.m. today for vagrancy. A deputy investigating a complaint about a trespasser in Amelia made contact with Toups who had been advised by the deputy earlier in the evening to leave the area. Toups was transported to the parish jail for booking. No bail is set.
Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported no arrests.
Patterson Police Chief Patrick LaSalle reported the following arrest:
—Markell Davis, 17, of the 1400 block of Hickory Street in Patterson, at 3:01 a.m. today on the charges of burglary of an inhabited dwelling and simple criminal damage to property. Davis remains jailed. No bail is set.
—Tony Tran, 27, of the 100 block of Callahan Street in Patterson, at 12:08 a.m. today on the charges of driver must be licensed (no driver’s license), possession of Schedule I (marijuana), and possession of a firearm in the presence of a controlled dangerous substance.
A deputy responded to complaint of a possible vehi-cle crash on U.S. 90 in the Calumet area. Upon arrival, the deputy located a vehicle off the roadway near a sugar cane field. The deputy ob-served the operator of the vehicle sleeping at steering wheel with the car still in drive. The deputy made contact with the subject, identified as Tran. When Tran exited the car, a marijuana cigarette fell from his clothing. The deputy observed a second marijuana cigarette inside the vehicle. During the course of the investigation, the deputy also located a handgun in the vehicle and discovered that Tran did not have a valid driver’s license. Tran was transported to the parish jail for booking. No bail is set.
Morgan City Police Chief James Blair reported the following arrests:
—A juvenile male, 16, at 9:56 a.m. Friday on the charge of second degree battery.
An officer doing a walk through at Morgan City High School was advised of a fight that had taken place. The officer learned that a student struck another student and knocked out one of his teeth. The officer learned that the victim did not fight back and was not charged, Blair said. The officer arrested the other student. He was booked and released.
—Natoya Singleton, 24, of Chetta Lane in Morgan City, at 2:16 p.m. Friday on the charges of expired driver’s license and expired inspection sticker, and on a warrant charging her with failure to appear for a restitution hearing.
An officer in the area of Apple Street observed a vehicle with an expired inspection sticker. The officer stopped the vehicle and spoke with the driver, identified as Singleton. While speaking with Singleton the officer learned that her driver’s license was expired and the Morgan City Police Department held a warrant for her arrest. Singleton was jailed and later released on bail.
—Scott Comeaux, 37, of Levee Road in Morgan City, at 9:21 p.m. Friday on the charges of improper lighting and driving under suspen-sion.
An officer patrolling the area of Duke Street observed a vehicle with only one working headlight. The officer stopped the vehicle and spoke with the driver, identified as Comeaux. While speaking with Comeaux the officer learned that Comeaux was driving with a suspended driver’s license. Comeaux was jailed and released after posting bail.
—Jeremy LaCarte, 25, of Kentucky Street in Morgan City, at 11:09 p.m. Friday on the charges of improper lighting and no driver’s license, and on Thibodaux warrants charging him with failure to appear for no seat belt and failure to appear for no driver’s license.
An officer in the area of La. 182 near 11th Street observed a vehicle with only one headlight. The officer stopped the vehicle and spoke with the driver identified, as LaCarte. LaCarte did not have a driver’s license. LaCarte also found to have warrants from the City Court of Thibodaux for failure to appear. LaCarte was jailed.
—Jesse Hart, 23, of Bayou Side Drive in Houma, at 11:56 a.m. Saturday on a warrant for probation viola-tion. Hart turned himself in at the Morgan City Police Department where he was booked.
—Patsy Durocher, 20, of Morgan City, at 2:09 a.m. Sunday on the charge of reckless operation of a vehi-cle.
Officers were called to a La. 182 business after a vehicle was driving recklessly in the parking lot. The officer arrived and located the vehicle in the parking lot. The officer spoke with store employees who identified the driver of the vehicle to officers. The officers spoke with the driver, Durocher. Officers learned that as Durocher entered the parking area she hit a curb and then started to spin her tires in the parking lot almost striking a gas pump, Blair said. Durocher seemed intoxicated, but did not smell of alcohol, Blair said. Durocher was jailed, and the investigation is ongoing.
—Rodney Williams, 37, of Claire Drive in Morgan City, at 2:42 a.m. Sunday on the charges of driving under suspension, switched license plate, and hit and run driv-ing.
Officers were called to a Roderick Street address where they learned that a vehicle had struck a parked vehicle. The officers were given a description and a license plate to the vehicle. Officers located the vehicle and identified the driver as Williams. Williams spoke with officers stating that he was not driving the vehicle, but that a friend was driving it, Blair said. However, Williams could not tell officer where the friend was at this time. The officer located damage to the vehicle and parts of a light that matched the evidence left at the scene, Blair said. Williams was jailed.
—Travis Singleton, 32, of Leona Street in Morgan City, at 9:18 a.m. Sunday on the charges of hit-and-run driving and careless operation of a vehicle.
An officer patrolling the area of Fourth Street ob-served a vehicle with damage on the side of the road. The officer noticed that the vehicle also appeared to have been dragged from the road recently. The officer then located a second parked vehicle that had been struck in the area, Blair said. The officer located the driver of the first vehicle and was identified as Singleton. The officer spoke with Singleton, who stated that his front wheel came off his vehicle at which time he stopped, Blair said. Singleton stated that someone came outside of a residence and assisted him in pushing the vehicle off the roadway. The officer located evidence that showed Singleton struck the parked car and drove a short distance before stopping, Blair said. Single-ton was jailed.
—Alex Soto, 21, of Federal Avenue in Morgan City, at 12:26 p.m. Sunday on the charges of hit-and-run driving, no driver’s license and improper left turn.
Officers were called to an accident in the area of Victor II Boulevard and La 70. Before arriving at the scene, officers learned that one of the vehicles was leaving the scene, and that vehicle was being followed, Blair said. The officers were able to stop the vehicle at Myrtle Street and La. 182 and speak with the driver, identified as Soto. Soto stated that he had hit something, but did not know what he hit, Blair said. Officers spoke with the driver of the second vehicle who stated that Soto turned left in front of her. She attempted to stop but could not do so, Blair said. She stated that after striking her vehicle, Soto kept going, Blair said. Officers learned that Soto did not have a valid license. Soto was jailed.
