Franklin man arrested on domestic battery charge
A 26-year-old Franklin man was arrested after officers learned he hit a woman several times in front of a juvenile, Morgan City Police Chief James Blair said in a news release.
—Tommy Morgan, 26, of Franklin, was arrested at 4:21 p.m. Thursday on charges of domestic abuse battery in the presence of a juvenile and no driver’s license.
Officers responded to a disturbance call in the Belanger Street area. Officers arrived and spoke with several witnesses who stated that Morgan was observed hitting a female several times.
Officers also learned that Morgan stopped his vehicle on top of the U.S. 90 bridge in Morgan City and attempted to remove a child from the car. After speaking with the victim and witnesses, police arrested Morgan and transported him to the Morgan City Police Department.
Blair reported the following arrests:
—Travonta Ausama, 21, of Robin Street in Morgan City, at 8:53 a.m. Thursday on a warrant for monetary instrument abuse.
Ausama was arrested at the Morgan City Police Department on warrants for monetary instrument abuse. The arrest stems from a Nov. 19 incident where Ausama was suspected of passing a counterfeit bill at a local business. Ausama was arrested and booked into the Morgan City Police Department Jail .
—Lesley Penn, 49, of Chirpy Lane in Amelia, at 12:49 p.m. Thursday on a warrant for attempted theft by fraud.
Penn was located by an officer patrolling the area of Duke Street. The officer knew that Penn had outstanding warrants with Morgan City Police Department. Penn was placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Department for booking . The warrant stems from an attempted theft at a local business.
—Charles Bikey, 57, of Carol Road in Morgan City, at 5:53 p.m. Thursday on the charges of disturbing the peace intoxicated, resisting an officer and disturbing the peace by using profanity.
Officers were called to a La. 182 business when a man caused a disturbance. Officers arrived and spoke with Bikey, who was found to be intoxicated. As officers were speaking with Bikey he continued to use profane language in front of employees and customers of the business. An officer advised Bikey to calm down several times, however he refused to do so. Bikey was advised he was under arrest and as officers attempted to place him in handcuffs, he began to resist the officers. He was restrained and handcuffed before being transported to the Morgan City Police Department for booking.
—Elsee Spencer, 59, of Cherry Street in Morgan City, at 5:32 p.m. Friday on the charge of domestic abuse battery.
Officers were called to a Cherry Street residence due to a disturbance. According to witnesses, Spencer became involved in an argument, striking the victim. Officers spoke with Spencer, who admitted that he did strike the victim. Spencer was placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Department for booking .
—Henry Blackmon, 51, of Pensacola, Florida, at 11:04 p.m. Friday on the charge of appearing in public intoxicated.
A patrolling officer observed Blackmon and another subject in the Fifth Street area walking in the roadway in an impaired condition. The officer instructed the subjects to return to their residence nearby for the evening. A short time later, the officer located Blackmon walking in the area of Seventh Street. The officer stopped Blackmon, who was intoxicated, and placed him under arrest. Blackmon was transported to the Morgan City Police Department for booking.
—Leah Owens, 37, of Levee Road in Morgan City, at 2:11 p.m. Saturday on the charges of a warrant for unauthorized entry of an inhabited dwelling and resisting an officer.
Officers investigating a complaint spoke with Owens, and learned that she had outstanding warrants for the Morgan City Police Department. The officer advised Owens of the warrant and that she was under arrest. As officers were placing her in handcuffs, she began to resist officers and after a short struggle she was placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Department for booking.
—Steven Patureau, 54, of Laura Lee Lane in Morgan City, at 7:16 p.m. Saturday on the charges of a warrant for wrong way on one way street and possession of Schedule I narcotics, marijuana.
A patrolling officer observed a vehicle traveling west in the eastbound lane of Brashear Avenue near the area of Second Street. The officer stopped the vehicle and spoke with the driver, Steven Patureau. As the officer spoke with Patureau, the officer noticed Patureau was very nervous. While speaking with the officer Patureau admitted that he had a small amount of marijuana in his vehicle. The officer located the suspected marijuana and placed Patureau under arrest. Patureau was transported to the Morgan City Police Department for booking.
—Wesley Davis, 32, of First Street in Morgan City, at 10:30 p.m. Saturday on a warrant for failure to appear at St. Mary Parish Drug Court.
An officer investigating a disturbance spoke with Davis. He was found to have outstanding warrants from the St. Mary Parish Drug Court for failure to appear. Davis was placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Department for booking .
—Matthew Beadle, 27, of Morgan City, at 3:01 a.m. Sunday on the charge of simple battery.
—Lynn Streva, 40, of Short Street in Morgan City, at 3:01 a.m. Sunday on a charge of disturbing the peace.
Officers were called to First Street due to a disturbance, where officers located several subjects. Officer began to investigate the disturbance and spoke with the subjects in the area. Officer learned that two groups of subjects began to argue and at some point Beadle is accused of striking one of the other subjects. Officers also learned that Streva followed one of the subjects trying to leave and kept yelling during this time. Both subjects were placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Department for booking .
—Ernest Johnson, 24, of Joseph Street in Morgan City, at 1:31 a.m. Monday on warrants with St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office for failure to appear for speeding and no driver’s license.
Officers investigating a complaint in the area of Filmore Street came into contact with Johnson. A warrants check was done and Johnson was found to be wanted by the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s office on warrants for failure to appear for court. Johnson was placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Department for booking .
Patterson Police Chief Patrick LaSalle reported the following arrest:
—Joey Francois, 35, of the 200 block of Robin Street in Morgan City, at 3:09 p.m. Sunday on the charges of simple criminal damage to property, suspended driver’s license, and no insurance. Francois remains jailed. The bail is set at $2,250.
Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported the following arrests:
—Tager Rosson, 18, of the 1000 block of Dawn Drive in Stephensville, at 10 p.m. Friday on a warrant for St. Martin Parish for contributing to the delinquency of juveniles. Rosson was transferred to St. Martin Parish jail.
—Jared Landry, 40, of the 2600 block of Roosevelt Avenue in San Antonio, Texas, at 3:56 a.m. Sunday on the charge of simple battery. Landry was released on bail set at $300.
