Franklin Police seek Capital One robbery suspect
Franklin Police are seeking the identity and whereabouts of a suspect who allegedly robbed Capital One Bank Wednesday, according to a news release.
At 9:20 a.m. Wednesday, the Franklin Police Department received a call of an armed robbery in progress at the Capital One Bank located on the corner of La. 3211 and Barrow Street. Officers responded to the area, but the suspect had fled, the release said.
Officers with the Franklin Police Department, with the assistance of the St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Office, Morgan City Police Department, Chitimacha Tribal Police Department, and Iberia Parish Sheriff's Office Investigators along with the Iberia Parish K-9 Unit are conducting a grid search of the area for the suspect.
The suspect is believed to be a black male of medium build, approximately 6-foot-1 or 6-foot-2, the release said.
He is believed to be around the age of 25 to 30s with light brown eyes. The suspect was wearing a black hoodie with black pants. He had on black shoes with white socks with black cloth top gloves on his hands. He was also wearing a neoprene mask with cut outs for the eyes and mouth. He was carrying a black bag with white writing and gray drawstrings. He is believed to be carrying a large frame semi-automatic gun. The suspect is believed to be armed and dangerous, the release said.
