Morgan City man wakes up to be arrested on drug charges
A 22-year-old Morgan City man was arrested after police officers found him asleep in a parked car with synthetic marijuana inside, Morgan City Police Chief James Blair said.
—Kurwin A. Webb, 22, of Grace Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 4:06 p.m. Tuesday on charges for possession of synthetic marijuana (second offense) and violation of uniformed controlled dangerous substance law.
Officers responded to an address on Glenwood Street in regards to a subject sleeping in a parked vehicle. A description of the vehicle was provided and officers identified Webb, who was asleep inside. During the investigation, officers observed suspected synthetic marijuana inside the vehicle. The location of the incident was within the area of a local elementary school in violation of uniformed controlled dangerous substance laws. Webb was arrested and transported to the Morgan City Police Department where he was booked and jailed .
Blair reported the following arrests:
—Anthony C. Gant, 35, of Rayne, 1:30 p.m. Tuesday on a warrant for failure to appear for a traffic citation.
Gant was arrested in the Sixth Ward Morgan City Court for an active arrest warrant held by the Morgan City Court. Gant was booked into the Morgan City Jail and incarcerated.
—Samantha Williams, 27, of Elaine Street in Morgan City, at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday on warrants for simple battery and aggravated battery with a dangerous weapon.
Williams was arrested in the 6th Ward Morgan City Court in regards to active warrants held by the Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Office. Williams was booked into the Morgan City Jail and incarcerated.
—Travis Singleton, 32, Leona Street in Morgan City, at 4:15 p.m. Tuesday on a warrant for probation violation.
Singleton was arrested in the 6th Ward Morgan City Court for an active warrant held by the Morgan City Court. Singleton was booked into the Morgan City Jail and incarcerated.
—David S. Blair, 39, of Greenwood Street in Morgan City, at 4:47 p.m. Tuesday on a warrant for violation of a protective order.
Blair was located at a residence on Greenwood Street by officers, at which time he was arrested on a warrant held by the Morgan City Police Department. Blair was transported to the Morgan City Police Department where he was booked and jailed.
—James D. Robinson, 47, Arenz Street in Morgan City, at 8:37 p.m. Tuesday on a charge of appearing in public in an intoxicated condition and a warrant for failure to appear for child support.
An officer responded to the area of Sixth Street near Brashear Avenue in regards to a complaint of an intoxicated subject. Officers located Robinson who matched the description of the complaint in the area. While speaking with Robinson, he appeared to be intoxicated. A warrants check revealed that the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office held an active warrant. Robinson was arrested and transported to the Morgan City Police Department where he was booked and jailed .
St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert reported responding to 27 complaints in the parish and reported the following arrests in east St. Mary Parish:
—Tamara L. Manning, 33, of the 900 block of First Street in Morgan City, at 10:56 a.m. Tuesday on a warrant for failure to appear on the charges of driving under suspension and operating a vehicle with improper taillights.
Manning was brought to booking at the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center by another agency. While there, a correctional officer located an active warrant for Manning’s arrest. No bail is set.
—Justin Price, 27, of the 500 block of Gen. McArthur Street in Morgan City, at 12:32 a.m. today on the charges of headlights required and driving under suspension.
A deputy observed a vehicle with a non-functioning headlight and conducted a traffic stop on U.S. 90 in Berwick. The deputy made contact with the driver, identified as Price, and discovered that he was operating the vehicle with a suspended license. Price was jailed with bail set at $1250.
Franklin Police Chief Sabria McGuire reported the following arrest relating to east St. Mary Parish:
—Tyler Brewer, 23, of Louisa Street in Patterson, at 8:31 p.m. Monday on a charge for driving under the influence.
Officers responded to a complaint of a disturbance and located the suspect’s vehicle in the area of Anderson and Willow streets. Officers could smell a strong odor of alcoholic beverage on Brewer. Brewer allegedly admitted to taking several different medications, along with marijuana, and consuming some alcohol. Brewer was processed and held with no bail set at the time.
Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported no arrests.
Patterson Police Chief Patrick LaSalle reported no arrests.
