Patterson man accused of cyberstalking a woman

A 26-year-old Patterson man was arrested on a warrant for cyberstalking, St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert said in a news release.

Hebert reported responding to 44 complaints in the parish and reported the following arrests in east St. Mary Parish:

—Thomas Streetman, 26, of the 1700 block of Fern Street in Patterson, was arrested at 7:02 a.m. Tuesday on a warrant charging him with cyberstalking.

A deputy collected evidence that Streetman repeatedly harassed a woman through a social networking application. A warrant was issued for Streetman’s arrest, Hebert said.

A deputy patrolling the Patterson area Tuesday morning located Streetman at his home and transported him to the parish jail for booking. No bail is set.

—Cheryl B. Pontiff, 49, of the 100 block of Uranus Street in Bayou Vista, was arrested at 11:05 a.m. Tuesday on a warrant for failure to appear on the charge of issuing worthless checks.

Pontiff turned herself in to a deputy with the Warrants Division. Pontiff was booked and released on $500 bail.

—Jody Cubbedge Sr., 57, of the 3000 block of Third Street in Berwick, was arrested at 9:28 p.m. Tuesday on a warrant for theft of goods and on a warrant for failure to appear on the charge of domestic battery.

A deputy patrolling Bayou Vista observed a vehicle parked behind the dumpster of a business on U.S. 90. As the deputy approached, the driver opened the door and began exiting the truck.

The driver then saw the deputy, got back into the vehicle, and attempted to leave. The deputy made contact with Cubbedge and located the active warrants for his arrest.

The warrant for theft of goods is the result of an investigation into a shoplifting complaint from a store in Bayou Vista. The deputy collected evidence that Cubbedge took an item from the shelf without paying for it and then returned the item for cash at the customer service desk.

When confronted about his actions by a store employee, Cubbedge fled. After being taken into custody on the warrants, Cubbedge was jailed with no bail set.

Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported the following arrest:

—Jared Loupe, 38, of Morgan City, was arrested at 6:16 a.m. today on an Assumption Parish warrant charging him with aggravated second-degree battery. Loupe was jailed with no bail set.

Patterson Police Chief Patrick LaSalle reported the following arrest:

—Justin Charles Callais, 25, of the 100 block of Royal Way in Houma, was arrested at 10:02 p.m. Tuesday on the charges of possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and resisting by giving false information. Callais was jailed with no bail set.

Morgan City Police Chief James Blair reported the following arrests:

— Samouree Randle, 27, of Cherry Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 8:01 a.m. Tuesday on a charge of domestic abuse battery.

Officers were called to the Morgan City Police Department due to a subject being followed by another subject. Prior to officer’s arrival, the male subject later identified as Randle confronted the female in the parking lot.

During this time, Randle grabbed the female and began to struggle with her during which he threw her to the ground. Officers from the Morgan City Police Department jail were able to separate the two subjects.

Randle was placed under arrest and taken to the Morgan City Police Department jail for booking.

—Elizabeth Toups, 31, of Fourth Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 9:25 p.m. Tuesday on charges of two headlights required, failure to dim headlights and a warrant for unauthorized use of SNAP benefits.

—Patricia Savoie , 44, of Fourth Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 9:31 p.m. Tuesday on warrants for forgery, theft under $750, improper lane use, possession of a legend drug, no driver’s license, possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

—Austin Stevens, 20, of Fourth Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 9:36 p.m. Tuesday on a charge for possession of marijuana.

An officer in the area of Sixth Street near Arenz Street observed a vehicle with one working headlight. As the driver noticed the officer, she turned on her bright lights to make the vehicle appear to have two working headlights.

The officer stopped the vehicle and identified the driver as Toups. A warrants check through Morgan City police showed that Toups was wanted by the Morgan City Police Department.

Toups was placed under arrest and later transported to the Morgan City Police Department for booking.

The officer identified the passenger as Stevens. While speaking with Stevens, he advised the officer that a second wanted subject was at a residence on Fourth Street. Stevens took officers to the residence where they located Savoie .

Savoie was wanted for several warrants from Morgan City Police Department. Officers also located suspected marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

During the investigation at the residence, Stevens was also found to be in possession of suspected marijuana. Stevens and Savoie were placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Department for booking.
