Sheriff: Man charged with resisting also carried drugs

A 34-year-old Amelia man was caught with marijuana and oxycodone after allegedly resisting a deputy during a traffic stop, St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert said in a news release.
—Jovian Clark, 34, of the 100 block of Friendship Alley in Amelia, was arrested at 11:02 p.m. Tuesday on the charges of resisting an officer, resisting an officer with force or violence, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute second offense, possession of schedule II narcotic with intent to distribute, obstruction of justice and violation of uniform controlled dangerous substance law (drug-free zone).
A deputy patrolling the Amelia area conducted a traffic stop near a business. The passenger of the vehicle, Clark, quickly exited and ran across the street, Hebert said. The deputy attempted to detain Clark and was met with force.
During this encounter, the deputy observed Clark trying to conceal a small bag of marijuana. The incident took place near a school. A subsequent search led to the discovery of several small bags of marijuana and oxycodone, Hebert said. Clark was jailed with no bail set.
Hebert reported responding to 42 complaints in the parish and the following arrests in east St. Mary Parish:
—Ollie Carlisle, 42, of the 400 block of Darlene Street in Patterson, was arrested at 12:29 p.m. Tuesday on the charge of possession of a schedule II narcotic and warrants for failing to appear on the charge of improper lighting, failing to appear on the charge of driving under suspension and failing to appear on the charge of allowing dogs to roam.
A deputy patrolling the Patterson area responded to a call of illegal drug activity at a home in Patterson. During the investigation, the deputy learned that Carlisle was in possession of methamphetamine, Hebert said. Carlisle was jailed with no bail set.
—Steven Morris, 29, of the 100 block of Vista Village Lane in Amelia, was arrested at 2:21 p.m. Tuesday on a warrant charging him with violation of a protective order. The warrant stems from an investigation reported on Oct. 18. A deputy investigating this incident found that Morris, after being served with a protective order, harassed a woman at her place of work and sent her several text messages. Morris was jailed with no bail set.
—Martha Ford, 50, of the 100 block of Friendship Alley in Amelia, was arrested at 9:56 p.m. Tuesday on the charges of no license plate light and open container of an alcoholic beverage in a motor vehicle. A deputy assigned to patrol the Amelia area observed a vehicle to not have a license plate light and conducted a traffic stop. The deputy made contact with the driver, Ford, and found that there was an open container of alcohol in the vehicle. Ford was released on a summons to appear in court Jan. 13.
—Natoya Singleton, 24, of the 700 block of Chetta Lane in Morgan City, was arrested at 10:15 p.m. Tuesday on the charges of interfering with a law enforcement investigation, entry on or remaining in places or on land after being forbidden, and for a warrant issued by the Morgan City Police Department for failing to appear on the charge of failing to return a leased movable.
Deputies conducted a traffic stop at a business in Amelia. During the investigation, Singleton showed up on scene and attempted to speak to those involved in the active investigation. Singleton was given instruction to either enter the business or leave the immediate area. She refused began arguing with deputies, Hebert said. Singleton was jailed with no bail set.
Morgan City Police Chief James Blair reported the following arrests:
—Roberto Cruz, 32, of Fourth Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 9:15 a.m. Tuesday on the charge of driving with a suspended driver’s license.
An officer was patrolling the area of Sixth Street near Bowman Street when a vehicle was observed with improper lighting. A traffic stop was conducted and the driver, identified as Cruz, was found to have a suspended driver’s license. Cruz was jailed.
—Faibel E. Lopez Garcia, 36, of Spruce Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 3:51 p.m. Tuesday on a warrant charging him with two counts of simple battery.
An officer went to an address on Spruce Street to locate Garcia in regard to an active warrant from an incident that occurred in June. Garcia was located at the home and jailed.
—Teliegia M. Busby, 50, of Fifth Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 6:46 p.m. Tuesday on the charges of appearing in public in an intoxicated condition and discharging of fireworks inside city limits.
An officer responded to the area of Fourth Street near Freret Street in regard to possible shots being fired. Upon arrival, officers located Busby. According to reports, witnesses stated that Busby was observed discharging fireworks in the area. Busby had allegedly been drinking and appeared to be intoxicated. Busby was jailed.
—Carl K. Rosette, 33, of Baton Rouge, was arrested at 5 a.m. today on the charge of driving with a suspended driver’s license.
An officer patrolling the area of La. 182 near Roderick Street observed a vehicle make an unsafe U-Turn in the roadway. A traffic stop was conducted and the driver, identified as Rosette, was found to have a suspended driver’s license. Rosette was jailed.
Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported the following arrests:
—Chrisie Dillanueda, 32, of Jones Street in Berwick, was arrested at 5:23 p.m. Tuesday on the charge of disturbing the peace second offense. She was released on $195 bail.
—Sabrina Scully, 21, of Jones Street in Berwick, was arrested at 5:23 p.m. Tuesday on the charge of disturbing the peace. She was jailed on $175 bail.
Patterson Police Chief Patrick LaSalle reported the following arrest:
—Bryce Tabor, 20, of the 100 block of Hendricks Street in Patterson, was arrested at 5:59 a.m. today on the charges of possession of marijuana first offense, possession of drug paraphernalia second offense, and on a Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office warrant for failure to appear on the charges of possession of synthetic cannabinoids and improper lane use. Tabor was jailed on $4,500 bail.
