Woman arrested on unauthorized entry
A 31-year-old Morgan City woman was arrested after allegedly entering a home without permission, Morgan City Police Chief James Blair said in a news release.
—Martaisha L. Brown, 31, of Levee Road in Morgan City, was arrested at 4:16 p.m. Saturday on a charge for unauthorized entry of an inhabited dwelling and on a warrant for simple battery.
Officers responded to an address on Grizzaffi Street in regards to a disturbance. The officer arrived and spoke to the complainant and witnesses who told the officer that Brown had gone into the residence without authorization. Brown left the residence shortly after and a description of the vehicle she left in was provided to officers. Brown was located at a residence on Lizabeth Drive. A warrants check revealed that the Morgan City Police Department held an active warrant on Brown. Brown was placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Department where she was booked and jailed .

—Eugene J. LeBlanc, 21, of Elaine Street in Morgan City, at 12:11 a.m. Friday on a warrant for failure to appear to pay a fine on possession of marijuana.
LeBlanc was located on Freret Street near Florida Street where he was arrested on an active warrant held by the 6th Ward Morgan City Court. LeBlanc was booked into the Morgan City Police Department Jail and incarcerated.
—Brandi W. LaCoste, 33, of Sandy Street in Patterson, at 1:44 a.m. Friday on a warrant for failure to appear for possession of hydrocodone.
LaCoste turned herself in at the Morgan City Police Department in regards to an active warrant held by the 16th Judicial District Court. LaCoste was booked into the Morgan City Police Department Jail and incarcerated.
—Melissa A. Cheramie, 48, of Sixth Street in Berwick, at 9:36 a.m. Friday on warrants for failure to appear for possession of marijuana and driving under suspension.
Cheramie was transported from the Berwick Police Department to the Morgan City Police Department in regards to active warrants held by Morgan City Police. Cheramie was booked into the Morgan City Police Department Jail and incarcerated.
—Vincent Thomas, 23, of Mount Street in Morgan City, at 4 p.m. Friday on warrants for failure to appear for possession of synthetic marijuana, failure to appear to pay fine for contempt of court, failure to appear for resisting an officer, failure to appear for contempt of court, failure to appear for possession of drug paraphernalia, and failure to appear for possession of stolen things.
Thomas was transported from the St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Office Jail to the Morgan City Police Department in regards to several active warrants held by Morgan City Police. Thomas was booked into the Morgan City Police Department Jail and incarcerated.
—Quentin J. Dugar, 25, of Neptune Street in Bayou Vista, at 7:39 a.m. Friday on the charges of no turn signal, driving under suspension, resisting an officer, possession of marijuana (third offense), violation of uniformed controlled dangerous substance law, and obstruction of justice.
Morgan City Police narcotics detectives conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle that was observed failing to use a turn signal near at the intersection of Veterans Boulevard and Wren Street. The driver, later identified as Dugar, got out of the vehicle and began running from detectives. A foot chase ensued and detectives observed Dugar remove an item from one of his pockets throwing it to the ground. Dugar was captured and arrested. Reports indicated that detectives were able to recover the item Dugar had removed from his pocket, which was identified as suspected marijuana. A driver’s license check revealed that Dugar also had a suspended license.
The location of the incident was within a designated drug free zone. Dugar was transported to the Morgan City Police Department Jail where he was booked and incarcerated.
—Danny P. Lauland, 34, of Napoleonville, at 1:09 a.m. Saturday on the charges of improper brake lights and driving under suspension.
A patrolling officer observed a vehicle in the area of La. 182 near David Drive with improper brake lights. A traffic stop was conducted and the driver identified as Lauland. A driver’s license check revealed that Lauland had a suspended license. Lauland was placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Department Jail where he was booked and incarcerated .
—Thomas Stansbury, 27, of Parlange Drive in Morgan City, at 1:34 a.m. Saturday on the charges of disturbing the peace intoxicated and resisting an officer.
Officers responded to a local medical facility on La. 70 in regards to an intoxicated subject causing a disturbance. A description was provided to responding officers and they located Stansbury in the parking lot. Upon contact with Stansbury, it was believed he had been drinking and appeared to be intoxicated. Stansbury was placed under arrest when he began to resist officer. After a short struggle, officers were able to place Stansbury into handcuffs. He was transported to the Morgan City Police Department where he was booked and incarcerated.
Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported the following arrest:
—Valinda Otis, 34, of New Iberia, at 5:52 a.m. Friday on the charge of driving under suspension. Otis was released on bond set at $1,000.
Patterson Police Chief Patrick LaSalle reported the following arrests:
—Bobby Mouton, 41, of the 800 block of Tall Timber Drive in Patterson, at 7:45 p.m. Friday on the charge of criminal damage to property under $500. Mouton remains jailed. Bail is set at $1,000.
—Keith B. Smith, 29, of the 400 block of First Street in Patterson, at 2:12 a.m. Saturday on the charge of driving while intoxicated first offense by refusal. Smith remains jailed. No bail is set.
