Man accused of trespassing at Morgan City apartment complex
A 62-year-old Morgan City man was arrested Thursday for trespassing on property he was removed from earlier and told not to return, Morgan City Police Chief James Blair said in a news release.
—Zachariah George, 62, of La. 182 in Morgan City, was arrested at 8:03 p.m. Thursday on the charges of unauthorized entry of an inhabited dwelling and criminal trespassing.
Officers responded to an apartment complex on La. 182 in regard to a subject possibly inside one of the apartments that was not supposed to be on the property.
The officers arrived and spoke with several witnesses, including the owner of the property, who told officers that George was believed to be inside one of the apartments.
Officers were further told that George had previously been evicted from the apartment and that he had returned earlier that day when he was removed and told not to return.
Officers entered the apartment where they located George. George was placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Jail where he was booked and incarcerated.
St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert reported responding to 32 complaints and reported the following arrests in east St. Mary Parish:
—Ashley Aucoin, 29, of Ohio Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 2:59 p.m. Thursday on a warrant for failure to appear on the charge of criminal neglect of family.
A deputy located Aucoin at the St. Mary Parish Courthouse in Franklin on the warrant. Aucoin was transported to the parish jail for booking. Bail is set at $6,075.
—Anthony J. Beard, 40, of Cross Road in Bayou Vista, was arrested at 6:51 p.m. Thursday on a charge for possession of marijuana.
Detectives with the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Section were patrolling Bayou Vista when they observed a vehicle fail to stop at a stop sign.
Detectives conducted a traffic stop and met with the passenger, identified as Beard.
While speaking with Beard, detectives received consent to search his person and located a cigarette pack containing marijuana cigarettes. Beard was released on a summons to appear in court Dec. 14.
Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported no arrests.
Patterson Police Chief Patrick LaSalle reported no arrests.
