One theft, two arrests in Morgan City

Two Morgan City men were arrested after one stole items from the other’s vehicle, Morgan City Police Chief James Blair said in a news release.

—David Vargas, 37, of Bowman Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 9:41 p.m. Tuesday on a charge for simple burglary.

—Gary Davis, 31, of La. 182 in Morgan City, was arrested at 11:37 p.m. Tuesday on charges for criminal damage to property and disturbing the peace.

Officers responded to a complaint Tuesday of a vehicle burglary. While on the way to the location, officers learned that the suspect had been followed to a residence on Bowman Street.

Officers arrived on Bowman Street and located Vargas who, during the investigation, admitted to taking items from the vehicle of a friend.

Vargas was placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Department Jail for booking. During this time, officers were called back to the Bowman Street residence due to a subject damaging Vargas’ residence.

Upon arrival, officers located Davis at the residence. Davis was the subject who followed Vargas back to the residence. Officers found that Davis had in fact damaged Vargas’ residence, at which time he was placed under arrest.

At the time of the investigation, several of the residents in that area were outside while Davis kept yelling profanities and had to be told several times not to use profanity in public.

Blair also reported the following arrests:

—Shaun Sikes, 33, of Hemlock Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 5:55 p.m. Tuesday on warrants with City Court of Morgan City for domestic abuse battery and false imprisonment.

Sikes was arrested Tuesday at the Morgan City Police Department on warrants charging him with domestic abuse battery and false imprisonment. Sikes was booked into the Morgan City Police Department Jail.

—Douglas Mark, 45, of Utah Street in Berwick, was arrested at 7:02 p.m. Tuesday on a warrant for failure to appear for 27th Judicial District Court in St. Landry Parish.

On Tuesday, officers located Marks during an investigation into an intoxicated subject walking near Brashear and Federal avenues. Upon contact with Marks, a warrants check was done.

Marks was found to be wanted by the 27th Judicial District Court for failure to appear for court. Marks was placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Department Jail for booking.

St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert reported responding to 34 complaints in the parish and reported the following arrest in east St. Mary Parish:

—Don M. Fryou, 28, of Carol Road in Bayou Vista, was arrested at 4 p.m. Tuesday on a warrant for probation violation.

A correctional officer transported Fryou from the Terrebonne Parish jail to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center on the warrant. No bail is set.

Franklin Police Chief Sabria McGuire reported the following arrest:

— Garbio Boulanger, 27, of Sixth Street in Patterson, was arrested at 5:20 p.m. Tuesday on a warrant with Third Ward City Court for failure to appear on the charge of driving under suspension and expired driver’s license.

Boulanger was also arrested on a warrant with Morgan City City Court for failure to appear on the charge of driving under suspension and no insurance. Boulanger was booked, processed, and held with no bond set at the time of press release.

Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported no arrests.

Patterson Police Patrick LaSalle reported no arrests.
