Outburst in grocery store sends Patterson man to jail

A 24-year-old Patterson man was arrested for cursing aloud in a grocery store and refusing to calm down, Morgan City Police Chief James Blair said in a news release.

—Stephen Foret , 24, of St. Peter Street in Patterson, was arrested at 7:15 p.m. Saturday on a charge of disturbing the peace intoxicated.

Officers responded to a local super market on La. 182 regarding an intoxicated subject causing a disturbance. Officers arrived and located a subject matching the description provided, identified as Foret .

The officers were told by several store employees that Foret went to one of the registers where he began to use loud, profane language. Foret was told several times to calm down but refused to do so.

Officers spoke with Foret, who was suspected to have been drinking and appeared to be intoxicated. Foret was placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Jail where he was booked and incarcerated.

Blair reported the following arrests:

—Vernon J. Robin Jr., 53, of Front Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 1:57 a.m. Saturday on the charges of expired license plate and driving while intoxicated.

An officer responded to a local fast food restaurant on La. 182 regarding the driver of a vehicle sleeping in the drive through line.

The officer arrived and located a vehicle matching the description, and the driver appeared to be asleep with the engine running and in gear.

The officer spoke with the driver, identified as Robin. During an investigation, reports indicate that Robin was suspected to have been drinking and appeared to be intoxicated.

The officer also discovered that the license plate on the vehicle was expired. Robin was transported to the Morgan City Police Department for further chemical testing.

Robin submitted to the Intoxilyzer 5000 test, yielding a blood alcohol concentration of .136 grams-percent. Robin was arrested and booked into the Morgan City Jail.

—John Clark, 50, of Fourth Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 12:15 p.m. Friday on a warrant for failure to appear for simple battery.

Clark was located by officers on Fourth Street near Railroad Avenue. He was arrested on an active warrant held by the 6th Ward Morgan City Court. Clark was transported to the Morgan City Jail where he was booked and incarcerated.

—William F. Shrader , 27, of Second Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 1:22 p.m. Friday on a warrant with Tarrant County Sheriff’s Office.

Shrader was located by officers at a residence on Second Street. He was arrested on an active warrant held through the Tarrant County Texas Sheriff's Office. Shrader was transported to the Morgan City Jail where he was booked and incarcerated.

— Areana Candanedo , 25, of Park Road in Morgan City, was arrested at 3:49 p.m. Friday on a charge for monetary instrument abuse.

Candanedo was located by officers at a residence on Park Road. She was arrested on an active warrant held by the Morgan City Police Department.

The warrant was obtained from an investigation conducted by Morgan City Police regarding an incident reported on July 8 of alleged monetary instrument abuse. Candanedo was transported to the Morgan City Jail where she was booked and incarcerated.

St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert reported responding to 98 complaints and reported the following arrests in east St. Mary Parish:

—Jessica Everage , 35, of River Road in Berwick, was arrested at 9:53 p.m. Friday on a charge of disturbing the peace by fighting.

— Yakendra Wallace, 26, of Guzzetta Drive in Berwick, was arrested at 9:53 p.m. Friday on a charge for disturbing the peace by fighting.

Deputies patrolling the Bayou Vista area responded to a report of two women fighting in the front yard of a residence on Clarke Road in Bayou Vista.

Deputies learned that Everage and Wallace were involved in a fight. Everage was transported to the parish jail for booking. Bail is set at $250. Wallace was transported to the parish jail for booking and was released on bail set at $250.

Patterson Police Chief Patrick LaSalle reported the following arrests:

—Aaron Smith, 39, of Church Street in Patterson, was arrested at 2:18 p.m. Saturday on the charges of theft and unauthorized use of an access card. Smith remains jailed. No bail is set.

—Laurie Pritchett, 34, of Church Street in Patterson, was arrested at 4:19 p.m. Saturday on the charges of theft and unauthorized use of an access card. Pritchett remains jailed. No bail is set.

Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported no arrests.
