Film looking for supporting players
Filmmakers are seeking to cast two women from the area in supporting roles for a movie to be filmed in south Louisiana.
The two supporting roles available are for women ages 35 to 45 to play a “strong, hard-working mother with a twinkle in her eye and joy in her heart,” the role description says.
Court 13 Arts, a “New Orleans-based nonprofit arts engine,” is making the film. The organization also made the Academy Award-nominated film “Beasts of the Southern Wild,” according to its website.
Anyone who matches the role description is asked to send a recent photograph, which could include a selfie, snapshot, family photo or other photo and their contact information.
Staff members will then be in touch to arrange an audition. No acting experience is necessary.
Applicants should send their photos, email address, contact number, location and whether they are a member of the Screen Actors Guild to c13auditions@gmail.com. Being a member of the Screen Actors Guild is not a requirement.
The movie doesn’t yet have a final title, but the main storyline centers around a group of kids who go on an adventure to “magical islands,” Casting Associate Jesy Buhl said. The majority of the movie will be filmed in southern Louisiana, she said.
Roles for the three lead child actors have already been cast with one actor from Jeanerette and two others from the Houma area, Buhl said.
