Judge: Patterson woman must pay back $148K she stole from relative

A 53-year-old Patterson woman, who pleaded guilty in November 2015 to stealing about $148,000 from an 84-year-old relative, was ordered last week to pay back that amount to the victim in restitution.
District Judge Lewis Pitman ruled Jan. 12 that Jamie Boudreaux, 53, of Patterson must pay restitution after she pleaded guilty Nov. 19, 2015, to theft of assets of an aged or disabled person, according to St. Mary Parish Clerk of Court records. In court, Boudreaux agreed to pay back $148,700 without a restitution hearing, court records said.
Patterson police arrested Boudreaux on April 13, 2015. Authorities accused Boudreaux of stealing money from a relative whose bank account she had access to, police said.
District Attorney Bo Duhe filed a bill of information July 29, 2015, charging Boudreaux with theft of assets of an aged person or disabled person and forgery. The theft took place from Aug. 6, 2012, through March 9, 2015, the bill of information stated.
During Boudreaux's guilty plea, Judge Ed Leonard ordered the forgery charge dismissed on the motion of the district attorney's office, court records stated. Leonard sentenced Boudreaux to five years in prison at hard labor. However, Leonard suspended the sentence, placed Boudreaux on five years probation and ordered her to perform 50 hours of community service within six months.
