Police: Three women arrested for prostitution

Three women were arrested for prostitution Monday after Morgan City Police detectives investigated reports at local hotels, Morgan City Police Chief James Blair said. The advertisement for prostitution was posted online.

Blair reported the following arrests:

—Monica L. Hebert, 28, of Robicheaux Lane in Franklin, was arrested at 3:39 p.m. Monday on the charge of prostitution and warrant for failure to appear for simple battery with St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office.

After reports of prostitution occurring at the location, Hebert was located in a room at a local hotel on Brashear Avenue. Reports indicated that Hebert admitted to performing sexual acts for money.

Hebert was placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Department for booking and incarceration. Hebert also held an active warrant for the 16th Judicial District Court.

— Shauni E. Daigle, 23, of La. 70 in Pierre Part, was arrested at 5:13 p.m. Monday on the charges of prostitution, possession of heroin, methamphetamine, marijuana first offense, and drug paraphernalia, and violation of uniform controlled dangerous substance drug free zone.

—Demetria Y. Francis, 38, of Waveland, Miss., was arrested at 5:13 p.m. Saturday on the charges of prostitution, possession of heroin, marijuana, methamphetamine, and drug paraphernalia and violation of uniform controlled dangerous substance drug free zone.

After reports of prostitution occurring at the location, Daigle and Francis were located in a room at a local hotel on La. 182. During the course of the investigation, both Daigle and Francis admitted to performing sexual acts for money.

Reports also indicated that detectives located in the room suspected heroin, suspected marijuana and suspected methamphetamine. Also, there were items used to smoke illegal narcotics located.

The location of the hotel is within 2000 feet of a church, which is considered a drug free zone. Both Daigle and Francis were placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Department for booking and incarceration.
