(Updated) Arrest made in hit and run that killed Patterson man

State police have charged a 52-year-old Chauvin man with vehicular homicide in the hit and run fatality crash that took the life of William Boyne, 22, of Patterson, Friday night in Chauvin, according to a news release.
Authorities arrested Darrell Barlow, 52, of Chauvin, on the charges of vehicular homicide, felony hit and run, improper lane usage and obstruction of justice. With the public's assistance, troopers were able to locate a green 1997 Ford F-150 along with the driver, Barlow.
Barlow was transported to the Terrebonne Parish Criminal Justice Center and booked into jail.
The crash occurred shortly before 10 p.m. Friday on La. 56 south of the Chauvin Bridge.
The preliminary investigation revealed Boyne was walking north on the northbound shoulder of La. 56. The suspect vehicle was traveling northbound on La. 56, crossed the fog line, and struck Boyne. He sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased by the Terrebonne Parish Coroner’s Office.
State police originally described the suspect vehicle as a late 1990’s to early 2000’s green Ford F-150 with damage to the passenger side headlight area and possibly a metal “Headache” rack covering the rear window. Police had said the suspect vehicle was last seen traveling north on La. 56.
