(Updated) Police: 2-year-old, who was hit by vehicle, released from hospital

A 2-year-old boy, who was hit by a vehicle Tuesday in the Morgan City Walmart parking lot, has been released from a New Orleans hospital, according to Morgan City Police.
This morning, police learned from hospital personnel that the child was no longer in the hospital. He suffered no apparent internal injuries or broken bones from the crash, police said.
At 5:07 p.m. Tuesday, Morgan City Police responded to a report of a vehicle hitting a child in the Walmart Neighborhood Market parking lot.
Officers and emergency personnel responded to the scene. Investigators determined that a 2-year-old boy had bolted from the store into the parking lot, into the path of an oncoming vehicle and was struck by the vehicle. The child was transported to a New Orleans hospital.
The driver, Michelle Stephenson, 40 of Morgan City, displayed no signs of impairment and was not cited, police said. The investigation will continue pending results from required testing procedures, police said.
