Saturday is the final day to cast an early vote in the Oct. 19 municipal elections.
Secretary of State Tom Schedler said that early voting is available from 8:30 a.m. until 6 p.m. at parish Registrar of Voters’ offices.
“So far, early voting turnout has been very light,” Schedler said. “As of Thursday evening, only 26,558 individuals statewide had cast an early ballot. We are encouraging citizens to take a look at what’s on the ballot in their parish and seriously consider voting early if they anticipate being busy on Election Day.”
Locally, St. Mary Parish Registrar of Voters Jolene Holcombe said 131 residents had voted through the end of business Thursday.
Voters may vote early at the registrar’s office on either the third floor of the courthouse in Franklin or the registrar’s branch office in Morgan City at 301 Third St., regardless of address.
Issues on the ballot are:
—Fifth Ward Special School District 1 – Bond Proposition (Issue $21 million general obligation bonds for 20 years). The election includes Precincts 24A, 25, 26, 27, 28, parts of 24 and 25A, 29 and 30 in Patterson and Bayou Vista. There are 5,945 registered voters eligible for this election.
