Woman injured in Franklin Mardi Gras accident

An accident after Franklin’s Mardi Gras parade injured a woman when she fell from a parade trailer.
Chief Sabria McGuire said the 23-year-old Franklin woman was riding on the trailer being pulled by an 18-wheel truck when she fell and was run over by the trailer.
The accident occurred at about 2:50 p.m. at the intersection of Iberia and Weber streets as the parade was wrapping up.
The victim was transported by Acadian Ambulance to Franklin Foundation Hospital and then airlifted by Acadian AirMed to a Lafayette hospital.
No further details were available this morning. Franklin Fire Department personnel responded to the scene along with Franklin Police.
