Figure in Sharper rape case posts bond

(AP) — A man booked on two aggravated rape charges in a New Orleans case also involving former NFL All-Pro safety Darren Sharper has posted a $400,000 bond.
Bond was posted Monday for 26-year-old Erik Nunez. However, a New Orleans sheriff’s spokesman said Nunez was transported to neighboring Jefferson Parish, where he faced unrelated traffic charges. Nunez’s lawyer did not immediately respond to a request for details.
Col. John Fortunato, a spokesman for the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office, said he was being held on five traffic attachments with bond set at $3,500.
Sharper and Nunez each face two aggravated rape charges in New Orleans.
Sharper also faces seven rape and drug counts in two alleged attacks in Los Angeles. He pleaded not guilty in that case and was freed on $1 million bail. However, he was jailed again in Los Angeles on the New Orleans arrest.
Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Renee Korn last week set a hearing for Thursday to give Louisiana prosecutors time to charge Sharper or for that state’s governor to seek his return through another type of warrant.
Sexual assault cases involving Sharper also are under way in Florida, Arizona and Nevada.
