Morgan City student wins journalism award

The University of Louisiana at Lafayette collected 12 awards in the Southeast Journalism Conference’s Best of the South competition. The awards were presented during the group’s 28th annual convention held at the Lafayette Hilton this weekend.
The Best of the South Awards are given each calendar year to the top 10 contestants in categories that feature print, radio and television journalism.
Among the winners was Brian Richard, a senior broadcast major from Morgan City, who took third place as Best Radio Hard News Reporter.
The Southeast Journalism Conference is composed of 40 member schools in Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi and Tennessee.
