GILLIS WILSON SR.

Mr. Gillis Wilson Sr., 86, a resident and native of Patterson, died Friday, February 28, 2014, at 1:40 p.m., at Teche Regional Center in Morgan City following a short illness.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Algertha Francis Wilson of Patterson; three sons, Willie Wilson (Philis Johnson) and Gillis (Diana) Wilson Jr. of Patterson and Deserie (Jackie) Wilson of Houma; six daughters, Betty Wilson Preston of Breaux Bridge, Patricia (Clovis) Bergeron of Humble, Texas, Sharon (Terry Sr.) Johnson of LaPlace, Deborah Stevenson of Baldwin, Andrea (Dalton) Hilliard of Destrehan and Sandra Jackson of Patterson; one brother, Paul (Yvonne) Wilson Sr. of Morgan City; 20 grandchildren; and 25 great grandchildren.
Mr. Wilson was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.
Visitations will be observed Wednesday, March 5, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., at Good Hope Baptist Church in Patterson.
Burial rites will be read Wednesday, at 11 a.m., at that church, with Pastor Patrick Jones Sr. officiating. Interment will follow in the Shields Memorial Cemetery in Patterson.
The Otis Mortuary of Franklin is in charge of preparations.
