Emmette Estay
December 29, 1939 — March 14, 2014
Emmette Estay, a resident of Bayou L’Ourse, went home to her heavenly reward on Friday, March 14, 2014, in Thibodaux at the age of 74.
Emmette was a faithful member of Bayou L’Ourse Baptist Church, where she was the pianist for many years. Emmette was a piano teacher, enjoyed crossword puzzles and was a Saints fan. Emmette loved her family with all her heart and made the most of the time she spent with them.
Emmette is survived by her husband, Roland Estay of Bayou L’Ourse; children, Dale Johnson of Illinois, Roland Estay Jr. of Bayou L’Ourse, Tara Estay of Bayou L’Ourse; stepchildren, Tanya Acosta and Klint Estay, both of Texas; brother, Bobby McCormick of Georgia; sister, Mary Howe of Alabama; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Emmette was preceded in death by her parents, Emette Glynn and Mary McCormick; and a son, Mitch Johnson.
Visitation will be today, Monday March 17, 2014, at Bayou L’Ourse Baptist Church from 2 to 8 p.m. and resuming from 8 to 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 18, 2014. Services at Bayou L’Ourse Baptist Church will begin at 11 a.m. Emmette will be laid to rest in the Morgan City Cemetery.
