Truck spills fish on U.S. 90 bridge

A truck and trailer carrying two tons of fish jackknifed on the U.S. 90 bridge this morning spilling its contents and tying up traffic for more than an hour.
A 2007 GMC pickup truck driven by Lance DeRouen, 28, of Morgan City was pulling the utility trailer when it suffered a blow out causing the trailer to jackknife and spill shad, said Mike Banks, Morgan City police chief.
The incident occurred around 8:10 a.m. in the eastbound lanes just before the Federal Avenue exit, causing the closure of both lanes until 9:33 a.m., when the mess had been cleared.
The accident remains under investigation.
Meanwhile, St. Mary Sheriff’s spokeswoman Traci Landry said a chip delivery truck stalled nearby on the westbound side of the bridge, causing closure of one lane. The truck was towed from the bridge and traffic resumed, Landry said.
