All four prep baseball teams qualify for playoffs

The Tri-City area’s four baseball teams qualified for postseason play when the Louisiana High School Athletic Association released its pairings for Class 4A-1A Wednesday.
While Morgan City and Central Catholic found out their opponents when the brackets were released during the day Tuesday, Patterson and Berwick had to wait until later Tuesday to officially find out who they were playing after a group of Livonia High School parents, seeking legal action to reinstate them in the baseball playoffs after the LHSAA ruled they must forfeit 18 games due to use of an ineligible player, were granted a temporary restraining order delaying the release of the Class 3A brackets.
That restraining order was lifted on LHSAA appeal later Tuesday and the brackets were released.
Patterson, Central Catholic and Morgan City all will play Thursday evening, while Berwick will play Friday.
Patterson enters the postseason as the No. 27 seed and will play at No. 6 Brusly Thursday at 6 p.m. Admission will be $5.
Central Catholic, Class 1A’s No. 3 seed and the two-time Class 1A state runner-up, will host No. 30 seed False River in first-round action Thursday at 4:30 p.m. in Amelia. Admission will be $7.
The Morgan City Tigers, the No. 30 seed in Class 4A, will play at No. 3 Teurlings Catholic, a Class 4A semifinalist a year ago. The game will be played Thursday at 4 p.m. Admission will be $6.
Berwick, Class 3A’s No. 15 seed, will host No. 18 seed St. Louis Catholic Friday at 5:30 p.m. in Berwick. Admission will be $5.
