Pontiff, Comeaux lead HMS

Evelyn Marie Pontiff as valedictorian and Katherine Elizabeth Comeaux as salutatorian will lead the Hanson Memorial High School Class of 2014 during commencement exercises. Both are distinguished honor graduates.
The graduation ceremony will be held at 3 p.m., Sunday at the Church of the Assumption.
Evelyn, the daughter of Kirt and Roye Pontiff, is finishing her high school career with a 4.0 grade point average.
Her activities and awards at Hanson include Academic All-State Softball Composite Team, National Honor Society, Torch of Knowledge Award, Pro-Life member, cross-country relay team, softball team and football statistician.
She is the recipient of the $1,000 University of Louisiana Valedictorian Scholarship and a $4,000 UL Excellence Scholarship.
Evelyn will be attending the University of Louisiana at Lafayette to major in nursing.
Katherine, the daughter of Keith and Jan Comeaux, is finishing her high school career with a 3.92 grade point average.
Her activities and awards at Hanson include Student of the Year, Quiz Bowl captain, four-year letter jacket, 4-H Club, Pro-Life member, National Honor Society. student council senior representative, senior class president, pep squad, basketball statistician, Rally participant and mission work in Guatemala 2012-2014.
Katherine has been awarded the following scholarships: $80,000, Spring Hill College; $52,000, Loyola University; $6,000, UL; and $2,000, LSU-Alexandria.
She plans to attend UL Lafayette for pre-med studies with majors in biology and chemistry.
