A Bayou Vista man was arrested Tuesday after an off-duty St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office deputy saw the man with a container on fire, which the deputy recognized as a possible meth lab component, St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert said in a news release.
—Ryan Leblanc, 25, of the 600 block of Park Place in Bayou Vista, was arrested at 10:22 p.m. Tuesday for operation of a clandestine laboratory, possession of Schedule II Dolophine, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
At about 8 p.m., an off-duty deputy observed a person exit a Park Place residence with a container that was on fire. The off-duty deputy recognized the object as a possible component of a methamphetamine laboratory and contacted narcotics detectives, Hebert said.
Detectives spoke with the resident, identified as Leblanc. Detectives received consent to search Leblanc’s residence and located a clandestine lab and items used in making methamphetamine, Hebert stated.
Detectives also located a Dolophine pill and a syringe inside the residence. Leblanc was jailed with no bail set. A cleanup crew was contacted to remove the active lab, the sheriff said.
St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert reported responding to 41 complaints in the parish and reported the following arrests in east St. Mary Parish:
—Joseph Gary, 28, of the 200 block of Henry Street in Patterson, was arrested at 10:05 a.m. Tuesday on a warrant for failure to comply with the terms and conditions of drug court. A deputy located Gary at the St. Mary Parish Courthouse in Franklin on the warrant. Gary was jailed with no bail set.
—Lakisha Butler, 29, of the 100 block of Judy Lane in Patterson, was arrested at 6:13 p.m. Tuesday on a warrant for hit and run driving and simple criminal damage to property. Butler turned herself in at the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office in Morgan City on the warrant. The warrant stems from an investigation of a hit and run in which a vehicle struck a mobile home. Butler was jailed with bail set at $1,250.
Morgan City Police Chief Michael Banks reported the following arrests:
—Keenze Howard, 49, of Front Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday for theft less than $500.
Officers were dispatched to a La. 182 business in regard to a theft. Officers were advised by management at the location that they had become aware of an employee who had committed a theft from a customer’s vehicle.
Howard was identified as the suspect and admitted to officers that he had taken a radar detector from a customer’s vehicle, Banks said. Howard was jailed and released after posting cash bail.
—Christopher C. Adams, 40, of Sixth Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 9:09 p.m. Tuesday for possession of Schedule III hydrocodone and on a St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office warrant for two counts of criminal neglect of family.
An officer observed a suspicious person in the area of Duke Street and observed what appeared to be a hand to hand transaction with another. The officer detained Adams, who attempted to remove an item from his pocket as officers approached and was detained. He was found to be in possession of six hydrocodone pills, Banks stated. Adams was jailed.
—Angela M. Curtis, 27, of Sanders Street in Franklin, was arrested at 11:28 a.m. Tuesday on a warrant for a probation violation, a warrant for failure to appear for probation fees and on a hold for the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office.
Curtis was transported to the Morgan City Police Department jail facility to be housed for the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Department. Curtis was booked on the warrant.
—Demarcus N. Keal, 35, of Kerry Street in Charenton, was arrested at 4:44 p.m. Tuesday on a warrant for improper lane usage and a warrant for driving under suspension.
Officers observed a vehicle being driven in an erratic manner near Federal Avenue and Belanger Street and stopped the vehicle to investigate. The driver, Keal, was jailed on warrants.
—Crystal G. Johnson, 35, of Fifth Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 6:37 p.m. Tuesday on a warrant for theft of goods.
An officer located Johnson near La. 182 and Myrtle Street and arrested Johnson on a May warrant. Johnson was accused of taking goods from a business, Banks said. Johnson was jailed and released after posting cash bail.
Patterson Police Chief Patrick LaSalle reported the following arrest:
—Eric M. Gerald, 38, of the 1000 block of Jordan Drive in St. Martinville, was arrested at 11:50 p.m. Tuesday for no driver’s license, failure to carry registration, possession of drug paraphernalia, driving while intoxicated second offense and disturbing the peace intoxicated. Gerald was jailed with no bail set yet.
Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported no arrests.
