Charenton woman charged with filing false report of home invasion, attack

A 28-year-old Charenton woman has been arrested for filing a false report stating that two men attacked her Friday during a home invasion, according to a news release from St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert
Megan T. Dugas, 28, of the 7900 block of La. 87in Charenton, was arrested today at 12:11 p.m. today for criminal mischief after falsely reporting to the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office that she was attacked in her home on Friday by two black males armed with a handgun.
The detective investigating the case discovered that Dugas recently spent a sum of money consistent with the amount she reported stolen from her home during the alleged invasion, the release said. Dugas admitted to investigators that she filed a false complaint, the release stated. She was released on a summons to appear in court Oct. 13.
