Youth football, cheerleading signups start Monday

Registration for fall youth tackle football, flag football and cheerleading begins Monday, according to a city news release.
Morgan City tackle football registration starts Monday for children ages 10 to 12 by Sept. 1 of the current year who meet the following weight requirements.
—Any youth who is 10 years of age must weigh at least 75 pounds with no maximum weight limit.
—Any youth who is 11 or 12 years of age must weigh at least 70 pounds and cannot exceed 135 pounds.
Any youth weighing more than 120 pounds will only be allowed to participate as an offensive or defensive lineman.
The first weigh in will be counted as the child’s official weight, and no re-weighs are allowed.
Entry fee is $50 per child and a birth certificate or copy must be presented at time of registration.
Flag football registration also begins Monday for children ages are 7 to 10 years old weighing less than 75 pounds by Sept. 1 of the current year. The fee is $40 per child.
Cheerleader registration for girls ages 7 to 12 starts Monday. The fee is $35 per child.
Registration is available at the Morgan City Recreation Department located at 915 Everett St. in Morgan City from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and 1:30 to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Anyone interested in coaching should contact Seth Thomas at 985-380-4600.
