Horseshoe pitchers place in Welsh

Area horseshoe pitchers placed at the Sid Plott Memorial Horseshoe Tournament Aug. 16.
Tim Gilmore of Bayou Vista and Angela Percle of Morgan City took the top two spots in Class A, while Kevin Dore of Patterson was second in Class B and Ryan Fryou of Berwick was second in Class D.
Gilmore, who was named tournament champion, finished with a 5-0 mark and a 59.5 ringer percentage, while Percle finished 3-2 with a 47.5 ringer percentage.
Ron Latiolais of Gonzales was third with a 3-2 mark and a 54.5 ringer percentage.
In Class B, Dore finished second with a 3-2 mark and a 35.5 ringer percentage.
Charles Savoy of Jennings won Class B with a 3.5-1.5 record and a 34.5 ringer percentage, while Bobbie Richard of Church Point was third with a 3-2 mark and a 36.0 ringer percentage.
In Class D, champion Loren Williams of Sulphur defeated Fryou in a 40-shoe playoff game, after each was tied in regulation, to determine the class champion.
Fryou finished 4-2 with a 22.1 ringer percentage, while Williams was 5-1 with a 26.7 ringer percentage.
