Lumberjills remain undefeated

The Patterson Lumberjills remained undefeated, knocking off West St. Mary 3-0 (25-13, 25-10, 25-15) Wednesday.
Like they did in Tuesday’s win, the Lumberjills (3-0) continued to excel at the service line as they had 27 aces in Wednesday’s win.
Juniors Arian Grogan and Tamia Washington led the squad with seven aces apiece, while sophomore Makayla Ruiz had five. Grogan added three points, 10 kills, one dig and one block, while Washington had four points, a kill and a dig. Ruiz also contributed eight points, three kills and two digs.
Other top contributors included junior Nia Broussard, two aces, three points, one kill and 18 assists; junior Gaylen Grogan, two aces, one point, six kills, two digs and one assist; and senior Jazmin Evans, four aces, four points, one dig and one assist.
In junior varsity action, Patterson defeated West St. Mary 2-0 (25-17, 25-16).
The Lumberjills had 14 aces in the contest, led by seven from freshman Madison Paul. Paul also added six points and a dig.
Other top contributors included junior Nyla Grady, three aces, two points and four kills; freshman Tapanga Haven, an ace, three points and five assists; freshman Shea Fontenot, two aces and one point; junior Hailey Sehon, one ace and one point; and sophomore Irinesha Kinchen, one dig.
Patterson will return to action Tuesday when it again faces West St. Mary, this time on the road. First serve is set for 4 p.m. in Baldwin.
