No area teams ranked in prep football polls

No Tri-City area teams were ranked in the latest Louisiana Sportswriters Association prep football polls, but one area team’s opponent this week and another’s district foe received recognition.
Patterson’s Week 3 opponent, Catholic High-New Iberia, is ranked No. 4 in Class 2A, down a spot from a week ago.
Also, Central Catholic’s District 7-1A foe, Vermilion Catholic, is ranked No. 8, up one spot from last week.
Central, who defeated Morgan City 57-27 Friday, received three votes in the Class 5A rankings.
Warren Easton remained No. 1 in Class 4A, while John Curtis is again Class 3A’s top-ranked team. Class 1A’s top team this week is Haynesville, who overtook Mangham for the top spot after defeating Class 3A’s then-No. 3-ranked squad, Union Parish, a week ago.
Haynesville had six first-place votes to Mangham’s three and 125 total points to Mangham’s 123.
