CCHS is No. 1 in Division IV

Central Catholic remained No. 1 in the latest Louisiana High School Athletic Association unofficial Division IV power rankings released this morning.
The Eagles (3-1) came from behind a week ago to defeat Highland Baptist, now ranked No. 21 in Division IV (Class 1A select schools), 48-26.
The Eagles will be in a Division IV Top 5 showdown Friday as Central Catholic travels to Abbeville to face defending Division IV state champion Vermilion Catholic, ranked No. 3 with a 3-1 mark.
Among area nonselect schools, Morgan City is ranked No. 37 in Class 4A. The Tigers moved up two spots from a week ago despite falling last week to Class 3A’s newly ranked No. 1 squad, Livonia, 56-27, in Morgan City Friday.
Morgan City will play Franklin this week.
In Class 3A, Patterson fell five spots from a week ago to No. 18 despite picking up its first win of the season, a 41-20 victory against Vandebilt Catholic, last week.
Patterson will travel to face Class 3A’s eighth-ranked squad, Westlake, Friday.
Berwick fell 15 spots this week to No. 44 after falling to KIPP Renaissance last week.
Berwick will be on the road at Jeanerette Friday.
Plaquemine is No. 1 in Class 4A.
