Patterson falls to Lutcher in 3 games

The Patterson Lumberjills fell to Lutcher High School 3-0 (10-25, 12-25, 13-25) in District 6-III action Wednesday.
Juniors Nia Broussard and Arian Grogan led Patterson in the match. Broussard had two points, one kill, three digs and 10 assists, while Grogan contributed three points, six kills and one dig.
Other top contributors included senior Jazmin Evans, eight digs; and senior Tye Williams, five digs.
Patterson (9-6 overall, 1-3 in district) will return to action Tuesday when it hosts E.D. White in a 5:30 p.m. contest.
Lutcher entered Wednesday’s game as the No. 3 ranked team in Division III, according to the latest unofficial Louisiana High School Athletic Association power rankings released Tuesday morning, while Patterson was ranked No. 22.
CCHS beats South Lafourche in 3 games
Central Catholic picked up a win against South Lafourche in straight sets Wednesday on the road.
The Lady Eagles won 3-0 (25-9, 25-10, 26-24).
Senior Kaitlyn Gros led the Lady Eagles’ offense with 11 kills, 17 assists and five aces, while junior Quincee Wiggins added 10 kills.
Other top contributors included senior Brittany Longman, seven aces and nine digs; and sophomore Hallie Autin, five kills, three blocks and seven digs.
Central Catholic (9-15) will return to action today when it begins District 6-V action at Houma Christian in a varsity-only contest. First serve is set for 4 p.m.

sweeps Berwick
Berwick fell at E.D. White 3-0 (14-25, 14-25, 15-25) in District 6-III action Wednesday.
The match pitted two teams ranked one behind the other in the latest Louisiana High School Athletic Association’s unofficial power rankings. E.D. White entered the match ranked 11th, while Berwick is 12th.
Junior Ashton Morales led Berwick with five kills, one block, three assists and 11 digs, while senior Hannah Carpenter had one kill and 17 digs.
Other top contributors included senior Abigail Askew, five kills and one block, senior Rennen DeLatte, 11 digs; sophomore Mary Jordan Melancon, four assists and seven digs; and sophomore Roslyn Gros, one ace and two digs.
In junior varsity action, Berwick fell 2-0 (12-25, 18-25).
Sophomore Morgan Romero led Berwick with three aces, one kill, two assists and three digs.
Other top contributors included sophomore Jaci Arnold, three kills and one dig; sophomore Emma Hover, one kill and eight digs; freshman Hannah Henry, three aces and one kill; and freshman Brittany Roberie, two assists and five digs.
In freshman action, Berwick fell 2-0 (26-28, 24-26).
Henry had two aces, one kill, one assist and eight digs, while Roberie had one kill, three assists and eight digs.
Other top contributors included Makayla Melendez, one kill and nine digs; Cate Koen, two aces, two kills and four digs; and Anna Armato, six digs.
Berwick (12-12, 2-2) will return to action Tuesday when it hosts Morgan City. Freshman action is set for 3:30 p.m. with junior varsity to follow at 4:30 p.m. and varsity at 5:30 p.m.
