Monceaux announces candidacy for Berwick council seat

My name is Randal Monceaux and I am a candidate for councilman in the Town of Berwick.
I am a lifelong resident of Berwick, growing up on Roder Street in Golden Farms and now reside in Country Club. I graduated from Berwick High School in 1979 and I’m a graduate of Westlawn Marine Technology.
I am married to the former Debbie Blanco for 33 years and we have two sons, Brandon and Drew. Our oldest son, Brandon, graduated from Berwick High School in 2001 and is married to the former Amber Faulk, who graduated from Berwick High School in 2001 and holds a BA and masters’ degree from Nicholls State University and is employed by the St. Mary Parish School Board. Our youngest son, Drew, also graduated from Berwick High School in 2006 and graduate of Louisiana Technical Collage. My sons and I are owners of Nautical Design & Consulting LLC. My wife, Debbie, has been director and pre-school teacher of St. Stephen Catholic Church for 23 years and is also the director of Religious Education at St. Stephen.
I am a supporter of Berwick Elementary, Berwick Junior High and Berwick High School and our business is a proud participate of the Adopt-a-School program at Berwick Junior High School. For eight years, I was active as chairperson and co-chairperson of Berwick Project Graduation. This is a great event, helping to keep graduating seniors safe on their graduation night. My family and I are active raising research money for the American Cancer Society’s East St. Mary Relay for Life and the Down Syndrome Association of Acadiana’s Buddy Walk. I am the chairperson for the Town of Berwick Board of Zoning Adjustments and also a Recreation Board member.
I am a member of St. Stephen Catholic Church in Berwick, where I also teach religion class. I have served in the past on the St. Stephen Parish Council. I organized and started St. Stephen’s Preschool in 1991. I was active with the Berwick Dixie Youth Program as a coach and as a Louisiana Certified Umpire. I am a former Berwick volunteer fireman.
I offer myself as a candidate for councilman in the Town of Berwick to assist the mayor and fellow councilmen in serving this great community we call home. As a lifelong resident of Berwick, I understand citizen concerns such as road conditions, drainage, businesses and allocation of funding. Though not perfect, I am a hard and dedicated worker and I pledge to be a councilman available to the citizens at all times. During my campaign I will be visiting and meeting every resident of our community.
In closing, Berwick is a wonderful community to live in and raise a family. I would like to have a chance to do my part as a council member to ensure that we keep our town moving forward. Thank you for considering me for councilman on Nov. 4.

The qualifying period was Aug. 20, 21 and 22.
Early voting is Oct. 21-28 (except Sunday) from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. for the Nov. 4 primary election.
Early voting for the Dec. 6 general election is Nov. 22-29 (except Sunday) from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Elections on the St. Mary Parish ballot include U.S. senator, U.S. representative, court of appeal judge, district judges, district attorney, school board member, justice of the peace, constables; Morgan City city court judge, Morgan City city court marshal; Patterson mayor, Patterson chief of police, Patterson council; Berwick mayor, Berwick council; Franklin city court judge, Franklin city court marshal; and Baldwin mayor, Baldwin chief of police and Baldwin aldermen.
