Parish budget session, regular meet Wednesday

Wednesday’s regular meeting of the St. Mary Parish Council will be preceded by a budget workshop at 4:30 p.m. and public hearing on the proposed 2015 budget at 5:45 p.m. The regular meeting begins at 6 p.m.
The combined 2015 budget shows a beginning balance of $29,195,535 and anticipates $40,398,227 in revenues and $42,210,946 in expenditures for an ending fund balance of $27,382,816.
Items on the regular agenda include:
—Public comments from Evelyn Salone to discuss her stance on the decision making of Hospital Service District 1 and Iris Berry of the “Celebrate Berwick” event held in October.
—Reconsideration of a Planning and Zoning recommendation denying a specific use permit to Tony Booty for operation of strip club at 8691 E. La. 182 in Amelia, and introduction of an ordinance on same.
—Introduction of an ordinance amendment on the Regional Planning Commission.
—Resolutions to the state Department of Transportation and Development, Division of Aviation requesting funding to complete capital improvements at Harry P. Williams Airport; a change order with Gray Construction Corp. on the Patterson sewer improvement project; a change order and notice of substantial completion on the metal building rehab project at the West End Solid Waste Pickup Station in Franklin with Acadiane’ Renovations Ltd.; change orders with Southern Constructors, LLC on repairs and improvements at Russo and Marcel boat landings and with Gray Construction Corp. on Morgan City Industrial Road; establishment staggered terms on the Board of Commissioners of Recreation District 1; an agreement with state Office of Emergency Preparedness on the wind retrofit and safe room project at the 911 Call Center; and the canvassing and declaration of the Nov. 4 election results.
—Financial assistant requests from the Save Our Children Mentoring Program in the amount of $50,000 for operation; and Community Action Agency in the amount of $30,000 to replace the AC system at its new location in Baldwin at the former G.W. Hamilton school.
—A request from Councilman Ken Singleton to transfer $25,000 from the Wards 5 and 8 three-tenths percent sales tax fund to the St. Mary Parish School Board for baseball field improvements at Patterson High School.
The council meets on the fifth floor of the courthouse at 500 Main St. in Franklin.
