Eddie Lee Powers, 81, of Canton, Texas, passed away on Sunday, November 16, 2014 at Canton Oaks.
Funeral services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Tuesday, November 18, 2014, at Eubank Funeral Chapel with Bro. Bobby Deets officiating. Interment will follow in the Oaklawn Cemetery in Cooper. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
Eddie was born on July 16, 1933 in Enloe, Texas to Everett and Mary Jo Powers. His stepfather was Herman L. Martin.
He graduated from Cooper High School in 1951. Eddie served in the National Guard and in the US Army from 1953-1956 during the Korean War with the Fifth Armored Division. He attended East Texas State Teachers College in Commerce. He retired from Quintana Oil Co. in 1995. Eddie married Panzy Raye Wakefield Marshall on September 6, 2005.
He was preceded in death by his parents; stepfather; grandparents, Leeander Jackson Edwards and Mary Elizabeth Russell Edwards; son, Robert Edward Powers; and sister, Janice Thurman and husband, Earl.
Survivors include his wife, Panzy Powers of Canton; daughters, Debra Kay Powers, Sharon Lee Splane; stepchildren, John Marshall, David Marshall and wife, Dana; and Mechelle Marshall Johnson and husband, James; grandchildren, Shawn Clements, Ryan Ilski, Kelly Grace Splane; twins, Jonathan and Joshua Trosclair; step grandchildren, Willard Paden Marshall and wife, Heidi and their baby Murphy Mae, Troy Dean Johnson, Garrett Spencer Johnson; sister, Debbie Garcia and husband, Alex; niece, Amanda; and great niece, Sierra.
