Vandebilt tops Lady Hornets

HOUMA - The Franklin Lady Hornets came up on the short end of a 60-31 loss to the Vandebilt Catholic Lady Terriers Tuesday in the basketball season opener here at the VCHS Gymnasium.
Vandebilt jumped outfront by a 14-4 margin at the end of the first quarter before securing a 31-9 lead at the half. Vandebilt led by a 44-18 margin at the end of three quarters on the way tot he 60-31 win.
Fabian Small led the Lady Hornets in scoring with eight points on four deuces along with 11 rebounds, three steals and two block shots. Quanta Jones added 9 points on a trio of deuces and one trey along with one steal. Chardonnae Parker finished with 5 points, 3 rebounds and 1 block. Mai Francis bagged three treys for 9 points along with one steal, an assist and one rebound, Kaira Butler finished with 7 rebounds and one steal.
Franklin will play host to the Delcambre Lady Panthers tonight at 5:15 at the FSHS Gym.
