A chemical spill on the U.S. 90 bridge onramp in Morgan City stalled traffic for a couple hours Tuesday while the substance was cleaned off the road, police said.
Police received a call at about 2:30 p.m. that a truck traveling on the onramp to the U.S. 90 bridge dropped a 55-gallon drum of rust inhibitor, Assistant Chief Mark Griffin Jr. said. The company hauling the material contacted a cleaning company, which cleaned the road, Griffin said. The road was reopened at 5 p.m., Griffin said.
